About Us

Tom is the Founding Partner of DD|HA, a hotel and real estate   industry veteran with a career spanning over 30 years. Tom spent the first   years of his career traveling the U.S. while working in the hospitality   industry. It was this time that inspired his entrepreneurial spirit and   passion for hotels and real estate; eventually guiding him to HVS where he   spent 18 years studying hotels and advising investors on their hotel real estate. 

Since founding DD|HA in 2018, Tom has advised private and   institutional investors on complex debt and equity real estate transactions   across multiple sectors including hotel, residential and mixed-use. Presently, Tom focuses efforts on investing and raising capital for hospitality-driven   real estate developments that have late-stage approvals and/or unique entitlements.   

The breadth of his experience spans across acquisition, disposition, development, distressed assets, and debt and equity. As a broker, Tom has exclusively transacted over $200 million in hotel real estate and has advised on over $1.0 billion in transactional value. Tom is a licensed Broker in New York and Massachusetts and an adjunct professor at Boston University's School of Hospitality Administration. Tom lives in the Boston area with his wife and four children.  

Originally from Bangkok, Thailand, Varun came to the U.S in the fall of 2017 to commence undergraduate studies at Purdue University. With a keen interest in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) since high school, he intended to pursue a degree in Mechanical Engineering. However, inspired by his family’s business in the real estate and hospitality sector, Varun melded his interest in STEM and the applications of finance and decided to pursue Actuarial Science, graduating from Purdue with a degree in Actuarial Science and Applied Statistics in the spring of 2021.

Having come from a family of entrepreneurs, Varun moved to the Boston area to pursue a master’s degree in Finance at Babson College, one of the top schools in entrepreneurship in the world.

Varun’s family’s entrepreneurship traces to the textile industry, specifically in embroidery product manufacture and export to various markets around the globe. The family later ventured into the hospitality sector with its first hotel, the Bangkok Marriott Hotel Sukhumvit, which opened in the heart of Bangkok, Thailand in 2013.

Varun has since been involved in hotel development, management, and operations.

Varun graduated with a master’s degree from Babson in December 2022, and joined DD|HA in February 2023, putting his passions, education, and business expertise to work for hotel owners and investors around the world.
